This Privacy Policy explains what data Berry Good Copy ("we," "us," or "Mikey") collects when you visit berrygoodcopy.com (the "Site") or use any of our apps, tools, products, or email lists — and what we do with it.
We try to collect as little as we can get away with, store it for as short a time as makes sense, and never sell it. Below is the longer version.
1.What This Policy Covers
This policy applies to:
- The website at berrygoodcopy.com, including all pages and subpaths (such as
/intercept) - Our newsletter and any email communications sent through Kit (formerly ConvertKit)
- Products purchased through Gumroad or any other platform we use in the future
- Any apps, tools, or downloads we make available
It does not cover third-party websites we link to. Those have their own privacy policies, and you should read them if you're concerned.
2.What We Collect
We collect data in three ways: information you give us directly, information collected automatically, and information from third-party services.
Information You Give Us Directly
- Email address (and sometimes first name) when you subscribe to the newsletter, sign up for a free resource, or buy a product
- Payment information when you buy a product — though this is collected and processed by the platform (Gumroad), not by us. We never see your card details.
- Anything else you send us when you email us, reply to a newsletter, or fill out a form
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, certain things are recorded automatically:
- Server logs (kept by our host, Netlify) — including your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you visited. This is standard hosting telemetry and is not used to build a profile of you.
- Local browser storage on
/intercept— The Intercept app (our card-feed tool) stores your reading progress, your saved cards ("dossier"), and your access state in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device. It is not sent to us or anyone else.
We do not use Google Analytics, third-party analytics services, advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking pixels. We do not build behavioral profiles of our visitors.
Information from Third-Party Services
- Kit stores your email subscription data and tracks email opens, clicks, and which forms or tags you've interacted with
- Gumroad stores your purchase history, refund status, and any data you provided at checkout
3.How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect to:
- Send you the newsletter and free resources you signed up for
- Deliver the products you've purchased
- Process refunds and respond to support requests
- Understand how people use the Site, so we can improve it
- Tag and segment our email list so we send relevant emails (for example, sending Playbook-specific follow-ups to buyers and not to non-buyers)
- Comply with legal obligations when required
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
4.Third-Party Services We Use
These are the third-party services that touch your data. Each has its own privacy policy, and your use of our Site means you're also subject to theirs where applicable.

5.Cookies and Similar Technologies
Short version: we don't use cookies, and we don't track you.
Longer version:
- We do not set any cookies of our own on berrygoodcopy.com.
- We do not use third-party tracking cookies from analytics services, ad networks, retargeting platforms, or social media companies.
- The Intercept app uses your browser's localStorage to remember your dossier, reading progress, and access state. This is not a cookie. The data stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can clear it any time by clearing your browser data for berrygoodcopy.com.
- Third-party services we link to or embed (such as Kit signup forms or Gumroad checkout pages) may set their own cookies when you interact with them. Those are governed by the privacy policies of those services, not by ours.
6.How Long We Keep Your Data
- Email subscribers — for as long as you stay subscribed, plus a reasonable period after you unsubscribe (so we don't accidentally email you again). You can request full deletion at any time.
- Customers — purchase records are kept as long as needed for tax, accounting, and refund purposes (typically 7 years, per common business standards).
- Server logs — kept by Netlify according to their retention policy.
If you ask us to delete your data, we'll do it — except where we're legally required to keep something (such as transaction records for tax purposes).
7.Your Rights
You have the following rights over your data, regardless of where you live.
Some of these rights are legally required for residents of the EU/UK (under GDPR), California (under CCPA/CPRA), and other jurisdictions. Where required, we honor them as a matter of law. Where not required, we honor them anyway because it's the right thing to do.
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct — fix any data that's wrong or out of date
- Delete — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Port — receive your data in a common format you can take elsewhere
- Object — tell us to stop using your data for specific purposes (such as marketing)
- Withdraw consent — at any time, for anything you previously consented to
- Unsubscribe — from any email list, instantly, using the unsubscribe link in every email
To exercise any of these rights, email us at mikey@berrygoodcopy.com with what you'd like done. We'll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on certain requests, to make sure we're not deleting someone else's account by mistake.
If you're in the EU or UK and believe we've handled your data improperly, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
8.International Data Transfers
Berry Good Copy operates internationally, and the third-party services we use (Kit, Gumroad, Netlify) are based in the United States. This means your data, regardless of where you live, will be transferred to and stored on servers in the United States and potentially other countries.
We rely on the standard contractual clauses and data protection safeguards offered by these providers for international transfers. By using the Site, you understand and consent to this transfer.
9.Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including using reputable third-party providers (Kit, Gumroad, Netlify) that maintain industry-standard security practices.
That said, no method of transmitting data over the internet is 100% secure. We can't guarantee absolute security, and you use the Site at your own risk.
If we ever discover a data breach affecting your personal information, we'll notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.
10.Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make material changes (meaning changes that significantly affect how your data is handled), we'll notify subscribers by email.
Continuing to use the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
